Air America Thanks Conservative Bloggers for All the Free Publicity
It would appear that no one is more interested in Air America than conservative bloggers. Oh, there are a lot of folks listening to the broadcasts in major market spots like LA, and there is still a lot of fawning and back-rubbing going on with various media outlets, but let's face it: No One Really Cares!
The comparisons with the media's coverage of Rush Limbaugh's painkiller addiction sort of proves my point.
Rush is big-time famous and influential among hundreds of thousands of listeners five days a week....arguably one of the most influential conservative pundits in the United States today.
Of course the media and the American people were interested in Rush's personal and legal problems. The man is a living, breathing news story every day (and yes, many in the media seemed a bit too happy to be able to report on his troubles).
Al Franken and Air American, on the other hand, are.....how shall I put it.....NOT big-time famous and NOT influential among hundreds of thousands of listeners five days a week....arguably NOT one of the most influential liberal pundits in the United States today.
Of course the media and the American people are not at all interested in Al Franken and Air American's personal and legal problems. The man and the program are NOT a living, breathing news story every day (and yes, many in the media seem a bit too uninterested in reporting on their troubles).
The only folks making a fuss about this are conservatives. Why? Who cares? If Air America is sinking, let it sink. If it is growing, let it grow. If it involved in a criminal investigation concerning the misuse of charitable funds, so what? Pass on any info to the investigators, keep us conservatives up-to-date with the progress of the investigation and then make a big deal of it IF and WHEN there are any actual charges made.
In the meantime the only people who seem to care are those who are, for all practical purposes, merely shouting back and forth at each other over the neighborly blog-fences in the conservative internet ghetto so many call home.
All "sound and fury, signifying nothing." At least so far.
(Al) Frankly speaking, I will be more than satisfied if the MSM publishes just a small article on the final conclusions of the investigation into Air America.
At that point the media's silence will truly be deafening. Until then, I suspect that I shall be hearing more noise and static than substance. Accordingly, I will be trying to block out as much of it as possible......and I will continue to read Michelle Malkin every day.......just because!
