A Mile Too Far: Marathon "Plus" In Chicago

Image hosted by Photobucket.comI suppose somebody could have driven a car around the course once just to be sure. But nobody thought to double check. Runners in this year's annual Lakeshore Marathon in Chicago took a little longer to cross the finish line. It seems that organizers had unknowingly added an extra mile to the course requiring the runners to complete 27.2 miles instead of the usual 26.2. Even so, winner Dan Martin still managed to complete the race with a very respectable 2:50:24.
