Washington Post Writer Says, Pope John Paul II "Betrayed His Promise"

It's amazing to me how many in the mainstream media have been so disappointed in this Pope. Could it be possible that some of them are secretly upset that he helped to bring down the Soviet Communist empire in Eastern Europe?
The way I look at it, if Pope John Paul II can't get good press reviews then who can? Hunter Thompson? Apparently so. Hmmm....
For those who expected more from the modernization--American priests ordained in the 1960s, say, Catholic women who wanted to be priests or Latin American leaders who wanted a partner in revolution--the pope not only betrayed his promise but locked the church in place for years to come.
