Hope for Migraine Sufferers: Acupuncture Works...Sort of...

BBC News reports that a British medical team has demonstrated that, no matter where you stick acupuncture needles, migraine sufferers appear to experience genuine relief.

Take three groups of migraine sufferers. Have one group wait for treatment that never comes. Have one group receive traditional, skilled acupuncture, and have the third group have acupunture needles placed randomly in non-traditional places and what do you get? For the first group, no change. For the second and third group, migraines subsided from an average of 5 bad days per week to 2 bad days.

Why? No one knows for sure. But......

The British Acupuncture Council said that there was good evidence to suggest acupuncture was helpful for treating migraine; and,

Ann Turner of the Migraine Action Association said: "Acupuncture may be a good treatment option for migraine sufferers to explore."
