Don't Believe Your Caller ID
I just heard that there is a way to have anyone's name, phone number or, literally anything else, show up on someone's Caller ID when you phone them.
One recent scam involved a man posing as a police officer on the phone. Caller ID indicated that he was phoning from the City Police Department. He wasn't.
All I know is that the means to do this is via the internet. The person exposing this said that he had tricked friends into thinking that their wives were phoning. He even had the words, "White House" and "George W. Bush" show up on people's Caller ID.
I guess the moral is, never, ever give any personal information to anyone who phones you . . .even if the Caller ID indicates that they are who they claim to be. They might not.
