One of Those Days
Well...Daughter #1 and I arrived in Los Angeles this morning as planned. What wasn't planned was getting on the Budget Rent-a-Car airport shuttle instead of the Dollar shuttle. So, after a trip to Budget we returned to the airport and, after a long wait, caught the right shuttle and picked up our car at Dollar.
After checking into our hotel and checking out apartment rentals in newspapers and the internet we drove to Santa Monica to register with West Side Rentals and search their listings.
After driving down to Palisades Park, overlooking the Santa Monica Beach, I got out of the car to put some quarters in the parking meter. Daughter #1 also got out of the car, being careful to make sure the doors were all locked properly.
Unfortunately, I had intended to get back into the car and had left my key on the dashboard. So...called Dollar "road service" and paid for a local locksmith over the phone. While we waited, we sat on a park bench, enjoying the late afternoon sun sparkling off of the Pacific Ocean as we sorted through all of the apartment possiblities and made phone calls.
Forty minutes later the locksmith arrived and, after struggling with our door lock for, oh, say...five seconds, got it unlocked and got us back on the move.
Nothing much to add except that we enjoyed a wonderful meal at my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Del Rey/Westchester, La Hacienda Del Rey (on Lincoln Ave.), and, after some more research and planning out tomorrow, are going to bed early!
Life is never dull.....and if a locksmith can open a locked car in five seconds I guess someone else could do it, too. What a happy thought! Buenos Noches!
